She has been discharged from the hospital but continues to stay in Singapore for recuperation and follow-up visits. Fantastic news, everyone! Our fundraising effort was a huge success, and we couldn’t have done it without your incredible generosity!

Thanks to your contributions, we’ve raised enough money to fully cover Hui Linn’s surgery expenses. She will be heading to Singapore for her examination on 19 September and surgery on 20 September.

Hui Linn would like to take this opportunity to express her gratitude for everybody’s support, especially those who attended the “Her Power” sharing session, which was held on 24 August.

Our best wishes to her as she undergoes her surgery.

Once again, thank you all for your part in helping this brave young woman.

Fate hurled a cruel curveball at a then 17-year-old Tan Hui Linn, when her father threw sulfuric acid at her, which resulted in blindness in her right eye and burns on 25% of her body. Despite this adversity, she persevered with her life, earning a professional qualification in accounting. However, she faced another blow when her vision in her left eye deteriorated and she had to leave this career path.

Fifteen years later today, fate turned the tables, bringing one Lin Chun Lian into her life. Lin, who authored an inspiring book titled Her Power, felt an immediate bond with Tan and vowed to help with her plight.

“Tan is, to me, a caring, kind and sensible person. I feel sorry for her experience, but at the same time, I am proud of her strength,” shared Lin.

Lin took Tan to Singapore to seek treatment. There, a professor of ophthalmology explained that there will be three stages of treatment: stem cell reconstruction, cornea transplantation and cataract removal. This will, however, cost a total of RM350,000.

To alleviate the financial burden, a fundraiser is being held for Tan, with Lin’s publisher sponsoring the book Her Power. All proceeds from this endeavour will be used to fund Tan’s surgery.
